Alienina
My jewellery obsession has been well documented as I've delved into necklaces, rings, chain-mail and springs. Just when I think it's waning and I'm clear to stroll the internet without a magpie-like yearning to grab at anything decorative, along comes another designer to whet my admittedly large appetite.
Alienina is a handmade collection of one of a kind pieces, knitted from old sofa trim, bungee cords, metal washers, and washing lines, the collection intending to inspire people to see new life and function in tired, ordinary objects. An almost Craig Lawrence of jewellery with a slightly more organic touch, the knotted, textural pieces and - as the moniker suggests - almost alien pieces appeal to my fingers itching for tactility.
Luckily - or unluckily for bank balance - its possible to order online, so the XL cable might well be winging its way to me in the near future.
