KRYSTOF STROZYNA – LONDON FASHION WEEK AW12 WOMENSWEAR

Citing his inspiration as ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde’, Krystof Strozyna’s AW12 collection delivered his signature celebration of the female form with an undertone of mystery and seduction.  Models bedevilled the audience in a figure-focused collection, accentuated by a dark palette which borrowed shades from “the night sky”. Leather panelling and exposed zips on the otherwise fluid drapery created a balance between casual allure and the revelation of a latent vamp.

This was a collection of restraint and passion in keeping with its Victorian literary influence – a cool exterior with a hint of the hedonist within. Black lurex and bursts of cobalt blue suspended each look between day and night. While not usually one for showmanship, Strozyna’s choice of venue complimented the clothing perfectly, as the heavy iron grating accentuated the softness of the models’ silhouette. Thankfully there was still room within Strozyna’s inspiration for his infamous manipulation of bodycon and meticulous accent panelling. Towards the end of the collection came another one shouldered number (following last seasons sensation) – this time in striking cobalt, which will no doubt be welcomed with open arms by Strozyna’s loyal following. His growing success is no surprise; this collection was an example of excellent workmanship coupled with luxe design easily transferred from catwalk to closet.
