INSTALLATION ARTIST – HONG SEON JANG/ 06.06.12

Hong Seon Jang is an installation artist whose main concept is a fascination with the comparison of human activity and natural phenomena as it corresponds to the circulation of destruction and creation.  His works are a showcase of what everyday materials and found objects can be manipulated into to embody new context of physical existence.

 

 

The work above is titled Type City – The city is made up of countless pieces of letter press on wood.  I think the main reason I am attracted to this work is due to its complexity, the detail is phenomenal and the time it must have taken to complete must be immeasurable.  I love that his work reflects him in every angle, his interests, passion and even the philosophies that are important to him are all evident in his work – this quality is something that is not often found in all artistic work.
