FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER – NINJA HANNA/ 20.12.11

Ninja Hanna’s photography has a really youthful feel. It’s possibly down to the colours used, or a combination of that and the styling in the photographs – but there’s a real sense of awkward prettiness to her work. I’m reminded of a young Chloe Sevigny, or Kirsten Dunst, those child stars with just a touch of darkness to them (arguably more than a touch sometimes).

 

So many of the photos have that feeling of ‘coming of age’ about them, both naive and sophisticated, as girls of a certain age are – innocent yet knowing at the same time. If the mythical Nabokovian nymphet does indeed exist, it would surely be found right here.
