SCULPTOR – KATE MACDOWELL

Kate MacDowell’s porcelain sculptures are ones that would illustrate man’s ever imposing presence on nature, something that would obliterate any chance of achieving a relationship with it; a ‘romantic ideal’ that MacDowell has mused over. However, I was amazed at how the plight that MacDowell spoke of could result in the creation of such beautiful pieces.

Her pure, white sculptures embody such a macabre tone, with the porcelain’s ‘luminous and ghostly qualities’ creating an unsettling yet intriguing ambiance about them with the slight glow they exude.
