Grand has left the Building
As soon as we were getting excited about seeing Katie Grand take over the reins from Stuart Vevers at Mulberry, she goes and hands in her resignation letter before she has even started! She is going to stay on board as a creative consultant for Mulberry but it is yet to be known who will step up as the new creative director in time for the handover in 2008. Grand’s collaboration with Mulberry continued in the recent Gap (Product)Red project for which she curated a collection that included Mulberry’s Roxanne remade in red and grey jersey. Now the questions buzzing around are why did Grand resign from this coveted position and who will be the next person to be announced as the new creative director?

Comme des Garcons Perfume Pop-Up
Burlington Arcade on Piccadilly is no longer a place maligned to bumbling tourists admiring the ‘quintessential’ English shops. With Cordwainers’ graduate collection being showcased at the Arcade earlier this year, the addition of a Laduree tea room and of course, the Arcade being the passageway to the ON|OFF exhibition and showspace on Burlington Gardens, it is fast becoming an unlikely fashion spot in London. Comme des Garçons in keeping with their guerrilla store tradition has opened up a Comme des Garçons 8 88 perfume preview store. On sale will be a limited number of the new CDG fragrance 8 88, t-shirts and candles as well as rare vintage CDG Parfum t-shirts and collector CDG Parfums all priced at £20.
Hurry along though as the shop will disappear after the 8th December.
Comme des Garcons 8 88 at 5 Burlington Arcade, London W1 from now until 8th December.

Osman Yousefzada for Mango
It’s good to say thank you to the sponsor and if your sponsor is Mango, a capsule collection is surely in order. Osman Yousefzada has done just that and will be creating a collection for Mango, themed around the little black dress which will debut for spring summer 2008. Mango is becoming well-known for supporting new talent as they recently awarded Belgian designer Sandrina Fasoli with EUR300,000 (the biggest prize of its kind) and it is great to see an international chain collaborating with up-and-coming designers. We can hopefully expect Yousefzada’s precise cutting and modern elegance to shine through in this capsule collection.
