“It’s London Fashion Week time again gang.”
“I’m excited about the goody bags, there’s bound to be some great food in those, like fancy choc choc.”
“Oh that damn dog! Seriously Chloe all you can think of is food when we’ve got a week of some of the most exciting fashion labels in the world showing and exhibiting! And who say’s choc, choc! And anyway, you know ‘choc, choc’ isn’t good for dogs you f***ing moron!”
“Genghis calm yourself, there’s a reason we don’t let you out of your cage and it’s not just your dirty protests… but to be fair Chloe, he does have a point, I know the goody bags are exciting, but there’s so much more to fashion week than the freebies. London’s the fashion capital for new talent, bursting from St Martins and the RCA.”
“Well I prefer Paris and Milan, they’re bigger and have all the best British labels there – the ones here are sh***! Other than a few who are knocking up collections from their bedsits.”
“Alright Genghis. Penketh you need to give that budgie something to calm him down. It’s not like he’s even got a point anymore, maybe in the past but the big brands like Burberry Prorsum are back and showing at LFW now.”
“Yep I think I’ll slip him a little something. He’s just agitated because they wouldn’t let him in to the BFC tent after he did you-know-what to you-know-who the other season – it was so embarrassing, I mean I know he’s a bird but Christ!”
“Well I suppose everyone’s got an opinion haven’t they. Let’s see what fashion’s finest have to say on the matter.”
“Let’s catch up with our fashion friends to find out what they’re excited about… I bet it’s not just choc, choc”
Irlam & Chloe: “What are you looking forward to or what can we expect from you at LFW?”
Jessica Bumpus – Fashion Features Editor Vogue.com
Fashion week is my favourite time of the year – when all the new ideas, talent and designers go on show. This season I have my eye on several designers and can’t wait to see what they do (having had a bit of a preview already!) and I’m also looking forward to seeing what the sartorial mood will be for 2012. Also catching up with friends.
Yang Du – St Martins (BAhons) and (MA) and multiple NEWGEN winner:
I am looking forward to having my very first Millie’s cookies, which will be selling during LFW.
Dominique Fenn – Managing Editor I-D magazine and Assistant to Terry & Tricia Jones
I can’t wait to see Teatum Jones’ debut on the LFW schedule. Aside from the delightful duo being two of the loveliest people, their ability to create beautiful, understated and elegant womenswear is quite brilliant!
Julie Verhoeven – Artist, designer, illustrator (she’s collaborated with Louis Vuitton, Versace, Mulberry…):
I hope to see lots of sunshine on the catwalks and have a skip in my step.
Katie Rowland – New Jewellery Designer of the Year 2011.
The new collection for SS12, ‘Salome’ is being launched at LFW. ‘Salome’ is about evoking sensuality in a woman, the raw animalistic lust that you would kill for. I adore such femme fatale characters and the predatory nature of them. It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end… ooooh shivers! It will be the first time I’ve shown at Somerset House, so it’s going to be amazing.
Jenny Dyson – Mrs Rubbish Creative Director, Publisher
I am really looking forward to Louise Gray, to reading The LFW Daily edited by Cat Callender and published by her and me, to sunshine and posers parading the cobbled stones of Somerset House, the most beautiful setting in London; to racing up and down Nelson’s staircase (most theatrical staircase you will find) in Somerset House again, to fleeting hugs with fashion pals, to new season excitement at Mulberry, Erdem, Richard Nicoll, HoH, to checking out the exhibition stands on site, to a big hug with Anna Bauer, our LFW Daily photographer extraordinaire, to mwahs galore with Daniel Marks FOH at shows galore, to staggering home to kiss my kidszzzZZZZZ’
Kim Howells – Super Stylist
In terms of what I am doing this fashion week – I am working with Fred Butler – accessory designer, who has a presentation ON SCHEDULE on the 18th. I am also working with the amazing Milliner Piers Atkinson who has a presentation at the Sanderson Hotel on the 19th, Dr Noki who is part of Estethica and Mens day, and finally David Koma who has his 1st stand-alone show on the 20th. What am I looking forward to? … I always look forward to LFW – the creativity in London is like nowhere else
Hermione de Paula – VFS One To Watch and Merit Award winner, print consultant for Nicholas Kirkwood
Jaws, Aliens and Predator with a werewolf twist… an action packed romp that will have you howling with laughter. Just kidding, that’s off the back of a terrible movie I just almost watched. Last season was focused on true romance, this season it’s all about attractions, fakery, trickery, smoke and mirrors….
Kirsty Ward – WGSN Global Fashion Awards nominee, St Martin’s (MA), Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s ‘One To Watch’ named by ELLE as a ‘woman to watch’ and Vogue.com as a designer to watch in 2011.
I’m most looking forward to presenting my first fashion film and expect to see lots of layering and necklaces that will put ‘Mr T’ to shame.
Debra Hepburn – Director, Young British Designers (youngbritishdesigners.com)
I’m so looking forward to Fashion Week as only London does it: fast, raw, raucous, edgy and full of passion. Young designers taking risks, exposing & flaunting their creations. Touching and feeling those creations. Falling in love.
Maude – Editor-in-Chief MAUDEZINE and named a ‘cult creation’ by VOGUE (September 2011)
I’m not sure who all these other people you’ve been talking to are, but everyone will I’m sure be excited to see me – LFW is a real opportunity for designers and press to get a glimpse of me. On a personal note, myself and team MAUDEZINE are excited to see what Maudalicious treats have been cooked up by the likes of David Longshaw, Kirsty Ward, Mary Katrantzou, Holly Fulton, Erdem, Eudon Choi. Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s ‘Ones to Watch’ is always exciting to see, as is Fashion East.
David Longshaw – Winner of the Inaugural BFC/ELLE TLP, RCA (MA) ST Martins (BA hons) former designer for Alberta Ferretti and Max Mara (in Italy) before launching his own label. His clothes, accessories and drawings are sold in countries from Japan, Italy, Hong Kong, Russia, England, Netherlands, to Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
I’m excited to be showing my collection for the fourth season in a row at Somerset House with the BFC in the exhibition space. I’ve also got something up my sleeve that I’ve been working on in the form of an animation to accompany the collection – it will be my first foray into animation so it’s exciting/baffling at the same time.
Katy Lassen – Stylist (she has contributed to Tank, O magazine and Dazed and Confused Japan)
I’m looking forward to seeing the new collections from LFW favourites like Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane but also to see the new designers showing for Fashion East as it is a refreshed line-up.
Elisa Palemino – St Martins(MA)
She has been a judge on international fashion competitions such as ITS# in Trieste and worked for everyone from Moschino, Dior, Galliano (where she was Head of Studio) and Roberto Cavalli. In 2008 Elisa moved to New York to become VP of Design for Diane Von Furstenberg. She debuted her own label at New York Fashion Week. Elisa is looking forward to her LFW debut with Vauxhall Fashion Scout on September 20th, showing her new collection entitled ‘A Fairy Dance’
